WHAT IS THE 5 STAR ACADEMY?
The 5 STAR ACADEMY is a participative and interactive two-day workshop in which you, the participant gets to meet the UK organizers of the Nike SPARQ events. During the two days through a variety of presentations and exercises, you will be introduced to some of the relevant aspects of organizing an event. At the successful completion of the two-day workshop, you will be competent to organize a Nike SPARQ assessment day through marketing the event, SPARQ registration using the protocols, performing assessment and offering development advice.
CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES
• LICENCING AND CONTRACT
- Understand how Nike SPARQ works
- Understand entitlements and framework Randy Kellman, the UK Director of Pro-Elite and ex professional American Football player is the distributor for Nike SPARQ in the UK. He will advise you on the legal requirements.
• ASSESSMENT PROTOCOLS
- Understand and apply the six core protocols including the following:
AMERICAN FOOTBALL (Relates to Rugby)
BASEBALL (relates to softball and cricket)
SOCCER M
SOCCER F
BASKETBALL M
BASKETBALL F
We will ask you to choose the TWO protocols, which are relevant to your sports practice. There is some degree of overlap and our objective is to provide you with the most relevant.
• PERSONAL IMPACT AND EFFECTIVENESS
- Successful communication with individual trainers and groups. Our resident psychologist, Dr Bill Moir, will take you through the fascinating and powerful aspects of: - Individual emotional development
- Gender based development
- The interpersonal agenda and how to maximise your impact through creating positive body language.
• PRACTICAL EXERCISES
- How to apply protocols and have your rating assessed
• MARKETING
- How to organize your own Nike SPARQ event
We will share the experience of Pro-Elite, your workshop providers. Nike SPARQ is an increasingly popular assessment centre in the sports community. Many of us therefore need an understanding of how this useful tool can be marketed to aspiring elite athletes in our communities.

OUR HOSTS
University of East London Based on the Docklands campus of the University of (Cyprus-DLR) we will be based in Knowledge Rock, which is the department providing support to business in this part of London. The campus is new and the student body is lively and diverse. - Two days in Cyprus and no need to fly.
ACCOMODATION
The course is not residential but you may need to stay in London for the workshop. If you need, accommodation please let us know and we can offer you some choices.
